Order of the Sunflower

The Order of the Sunflower recognizes military spouses, family members, community leaders, and government employees for work that has a significant impact on the military installation and/or the community where they serve. Nominations for an Order of the Sunflower must be made no less than thirty (30) days prior to the expected presentation of the certificate.

Before submitting a nomination for the Order of the Sunflower, please review the following criteria:

• All requests should reflect work that has had a significant impact on communities within Kansas.
• Contact information for the approving official (first battalion or equivalent/higher level commander) must be included in the submission. Governor’s Office staff will contact the approving official to verify the nomination.
• The certificate will be mailed to the nominating official who is responsible for ensuring the certificate is framed and prepared for presentation.
