Special Occasion & Recognition Letters
Governor Kelly is pleased to provide letters to help you celebrate a special occasion or significant milestone or as a greeting for an event taking place in Kansas.
Special Occasion Letters
Requests for special occasion letters must be made no less than four (4) weeks prior to the date needed. Special occasion letters will only be granted for Kansans and may be requested for:
- Birthdays for newborns and age 75 and older
- Marriages
- Anniversaries of couples celebrating a 50th or subsequent anniversary
- Retirements, including state employees, military service, and first responders
- School Graduations
- Eagle Scout and Girl Scouts Gold Award recognition
Greeting Letters
Requests for greeting letters must be made no less than six (6) weeks prior to the date needed. Greeting letters are intended to welcome a group or individual to the state for a conference or event. They can be included in programs, brochures, or publications for events taking place in Kansas.
Before requesting a Greeting Letter, please review the following criteria:
- All requests should be from Kansas residents.
- Provide draft language no longer than 1 page in length. Draft language may be edited and rewritten by the Governor’s Office.
- If no draft language is provided, the decision to write a letter is entirely at the discretion of the governor and her staff.
- The Governor’s Office reserves the right to decline any request for a greeting letter.
