Governor Kelly Announces Administration Appointments

TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly announced on Thursday 14 appointments to the following state boards and councils.

Board of Barbering
Purpose: To ensure that only qualified, well-trained barbers and barber instructors are licensed; to ensure that all shops and salons are properly operating with barber shop licenses; to eliminate all acts performed by the barbers that may cause harm or injury to the public; and to provide information to  the barbers concerning all technical, medical, and scientific data that may enhance the protection of the public.

  • Shalana Daughtery, Wichita

Kansas Sports Hall of Fame Board of Trustees
Purpose: To provide oversight to the Hall of Fame, including ideas for awareness, education, needed legislation, and fundraising.

  • Jill Dorsey-Hall, Olathe

Council on Travel and Tourism
Purpose: To advise on the development of new tourist attractions in Kansas and on the expansion of existing tourist attractions

  • Chuck Magerl, Lawrence (reappointment)
  • Karen Hibbard, Manhattan (reappointment)
  • Kim Anspach, Lawrence (reappointment)

Kansas Historic Sites Board of Review
Purpose: To review and recommend nominations to the National Register of Historic Places and the Register of Historic Kansas Places, and award preservation planning and rehabilitation grants.

  • Christine Steinuehler, Topeka
  • Mary McMurray, Prairie Village (reappointment)

State Board of Veterinary Examiners
Purpose: To promote the health, safety, and welfare by examining and licensing applicants for veterinary medicine.

  • John Sturgeon, Leawood

Information Technology Executive Council
Purpose: To adopt such policies, rules, and regulations as necessary to implement, administer, and enforce the provisions of this act; To provide direction and coordination for the application of the state’s information technology resources; To designate the ownership of information resource processes and the lead agency for implementation of new technologies and networks shared by multiple agencies in different branches of state government.

Governor’s Behavioral Health Services Planning Council
Purpose: To advise the Governor on adult, adolescent, and children’s services issues.

  • Nick Casarona, Topeka

State Rehabilitation Council
Purpose: To review, analyze, and advise rehabilitation services regarding the performance of its responsibilities, particularly responsibilities relating to eligibility and the extent, scope, and effectiveness of services provided.

Kansas Propane Education and Research Council
Purpose: To enhance propane safety, education, and training for propane consumers and employees.

  • Hannah Ramriez, Lebanon
  • Brad Thompson, Hutchinson (reappointment)
