TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly and Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) Secretary Calvin Reed today announced $5.9 million in awards for 10 transportation construction projects through KDOT’s fall 2025 Cost Share Program. This state investment will leverage nearly $3.3 million in community matching funds, totaling more than $9 million for infrastructure improvements that will enhance safety, support local economies, and improve connectivity across Kansas. 

"KDOT’S Cost Share Program is a prime example of strategic government investment that improves our communities and Kansans’ lives," Governor Laura Kelly said. "This funding not only makes our economy more dynamic and competitive, but it also makes traveling throughout Kansas safer and smoother for both those who live here and those who are visiting."

The KDOT Cost Share Program plays a critical role in advancing both rural and urban transportation projects. The program focuses on improving safety, supporting job retention and growth, alleviating congestion, and enhancing access and mobility for Kansans. The program is a cornerstone of the Kelly Administration’s 10-year, bipartisan Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program (IKE). 

"Kansas communities have the clearest perspective on their local transportation priorities, and the Cost Share Program unlocks the ability to fund those desired projects," said Kansas Department of Transportation Calvin Reed. "KDOT is invested in this shared vision with our partners, delivering localized infrastructure that keeps the state moving forward."

Since its inception in fall 2019, the Cost Share Program has awarded state funding exceeding $163 million to Kansas communities. As one of KDOT’s most popular initiatives, it has supported 207 projects statewide, attracting an additional $131 million in local matching funds.

The Fall 2025 Cost Share recipients are: 

• City of Atchison – Unity Street Pedestrian Improvements
• City of Canton – Main Street Access Improvements – Allen Street and McPherson Street
• City of Cunningham – Cunningham and Kingman County: Potholes to Progress
• City of Ellis – West 2nd Street Project
• City of Eureka – Jefferson Street Reconstruction
• City of Lucas – Greeley Avenue Improvements
• City of Ottawa – 11th Street Sidewalk – Main Street to Ash Street
• City of Shawnee – 83rd Street and Monticello Terrace Improvements
• Finney County – 2026 Finney County Hot Mix Asphalt Overlays
• Saline County – Assaria Road Improvements
