Sebelius offers condolences, orders United States
and State of Kansas flags lowered With the death of Representative Ted Powers, Governor Kathleen Sebelius said: “Representative Powers was a good man who worked hard for his district during his fourteen years in the Kansas Legislature. Having recently filed for an eighth term, he was still focused on working for his constituents. His service was not limited to the Legislature, however, as he served many years as a music teacher, touching many young Kansans’ lives. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Betty Mae, their three children, his entire family, and his friends and colleagues.” Per the Governor’s executive order in 2007: Upon the death of any member of the Kansas Senate or Kansas House of Representatives, the flag of the United States shall be displayed at half-staff at all state buildings, grounds, and facilities from the day of death until interment. http://www.governor.ks.gov/executive/Orders/exec_order0722.htm Editor’s note: The date of the service has not been set at the time of this release. # # # |
