Sebelius appoints LaCrosse resident to the
Kansas Propane Education and Research Council

To help educate the public about the safety and environmental aspects of propane, Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Jason Pivonka to the Kansas Propane Education and Research Council.

“Many Kansans use propane in their homes and businesses. This group helps make sure that consumers have access to safety and educational information,” Sebelius said.

Pivonka, LaCrosse, has more than 100 hours training in emergency medical technology and fire science through Butler County Community College. Pivonka has been employed by Flame Engineering, Inc. since 1993. He previously served as a firefighter and EMT for the Great Bend Fire Department and as a 911 dispatcher in Barton County. Pivonka continues to serve as a volunteer firefighter for LaCrosse and Rush Counties.

The Kansas Propane Education and Research Council develops programs and projects to enhance consumer and employee safety and training; conducts research and development to improve existing propane technology; and supports programs to increase the efficiency of propane use.
