Sebelius appoints one, reappoints two to the
Kansas Credit Union Council

To help maintain the reliability and stability of credit unions, Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed one new member and reappointed two to the Kansas Credit Union Council.

“Many Kansans look to credit unions as a place to keep their savings or secure loans. This council will ensure investments are safe and secure,” Sebelius said.

Sue Ellen Henke, Topeka, works for the Kansas Department of Labor and will serve on the council as a public member. Henke brings extensive communications experience to this council having worked for 23 years at Westar Energy in public communication and more recently as the public information director for the American Lung Association.

Also reappointed to this council are Alvis “Lee” Williams of Wichita and Cheryl Bonner of Lawrence.

The Kansas Credit Union Council supervises and regulates credit unions and works closely with the Kansas Department of Credit Unions. The goal is to protect Kansans from undue financial risk through the examination and supervision of credit unions and to assure safe and sound operation and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
