Sebelius picks a beef with Bredesen;
Tennessee tries to give Kansas a ribbing
Governors make friendly wager

The Kansas Jayhawks have advanced to the NCAA Division I men’s basketball championship game for the eighth time in school history and first since 2003. Led by Coach Bill Self, the Jayhawks will match up against John Calipari and the University of Memphis Tigers tonight in San Antonio, Texas.

To add to this memorable experience, Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius and Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen have made a friendly wager of Kansas beef and Tennessee ribs on the game.

If KU wins, Governor Bredesen will provide the Kansas Governor with Memphis’s famous Rendezvous Ribs. In the unlikely event that the Jayhawks are defeated, Governor Sebelius will send the Tennessee Governor some of Kansas City’s best steaks.

Governor Sebelius is confident her Jayhawks will be victorious against Tennessee. She says, “The Jayhawks are especially good at defeating tigers, even those from Memphis. Coach Self and his team have made us incredibly proud this season and I look forward to cheering on the Jayhawks as they win tonight.”

“We certainly have bragging rights with two Tennessee teams vying for national championships this week,” says Governor Bredesen.  “A side of Jayhawk will be especially tasty with a nice Kansas steak, after the Memphis Tigers give us our first championship victory of the week.”

The Jayhawks and the Tigers play in the NCAA national championship tonight at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
