Governor Sebelius invites Kansas children to Governor’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt Brightly colored eggs will dot the lawn of Cedar Crest this Saturday, and Governor Kathleen Sebelius and her husband, Judge Gary Sebelius invite children ages one through nine to join in the Governor’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt. “The Easter Bunny hides so many eggs in the lawn of Cedar Crest that I need the children of Kansas, and their families, to help me find them all,” said Sebelius. Governor Bill Avery and his wife began the annual hunt in 1965. This year’s hunt will start on Saturday, March 15th at 11:00 a.m. A free shuttle bus will depart from the parking lot of Security Benefit, located on 6th Street between Fairlawn and Wanamaker. The shuttle will be provided between Security Benefit and Cedar Crest beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the last bus will depart at 10:40 a.m. In the event of rain, candy will be distributed downtown in the Curtis State Office Building parking garage at 11:00 a.m. The entrance is located on Kansas Avenue between 10th Street and 11th Street. Kaw Valley State Bank and Trust sponsors the Easter Egg Hunt. In addition, Hobby Lobby, Candyopolis and Durham Bus Company, among others, have assisted in making it a success over the years. # # # |
