Sebelius expands opportunities for Kansans to vote Governor Kathleen Sebelius has signed a bill expanding advance satellite voting opportunities for all Kansans. “Over the past few election cycles, we’ve seen voters turn out in record numbers as more and more Kansans participate in our democracy,” Sebelius said. “This bill makes voting more accessible while protecting its integrity, and I hope counties everywhere take advantage of this opportunity.” SB 65 expands to all counties the ability of county elections officers to designate places other than the central county elections office as satellite advance voting sites. Current law restricted this option to counties with a population exceeding 250,000. This bill goes into effect upon publication in the Kansas Statute Book. The governor also signed SB 157 which will go into effect upon publication in the Kansas Register. Governor Sebelius has signed four bills during the 2008 Legislative Session.
Requiring the department of wildlife and parks to purchase vessel liability insurance SB 157 requires that the Department of Wildlife and Parks purchase vessel liability insurance to cover the operation of and the persons riding in watercraft owned, operated, maintained, or controlled by the Department. # # # |
