Sebelius reappoints Kansans to boards and commissions

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has reappointed several Kansans to public boards and commissions throughout the state.

“Growing up, my parents taught me the importance of giving back to our community,” Sebelius said. “These Kansans who are willing to give their time and talents to help improve various aspects of our state are very much appreciated.”

James Terrones, Olathe, was reappointed as a member of the Kansas Hispanic and Latin American Affairs Commission for a three-year term. This commission coordinates, assists and cooperates with organizations to serve the needs of Kansans in the areas of Hispanic culture, education, employment, health and housing.

George Gomez, Lenexa, was reappointed as a member of the Kansas Advisory Group on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention for a four-year term. This group participates in the development and review of the juvenile justice plan. They also review and make recommendations on all juvenile justice grants.

Dr. Stephen Meyers, Garden City; Karin Rasmussen, Colby; Robin Stone, DeSoto; and Debra Whited-Burnham, Eudora, were reappointed to four-year terms on the Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs. This commission consults and advises the secretary of health and environment on matters relating to children with special health care needs.

Sabrina Standifer, Wichita, was reappointed as a member on the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission for a two-year term. This commission provides the public with information for knowledgeable participation in government and the electoral process.
