Sebelius reappoints two to the
Unmarked Burial Sites Preservation Board

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has reappointed Ron McCoy, Ph.D., Emporia, and Rose Wallen, Lindsborg, to the Unmarked Burial Sites Preservation Board.

“These burial sites are an important part of our state’s history. This board ensures the sites are cared for and protected,” said Sebelius.

The Unmarked Burial Sites Preservation Board maintains a registry of unmarked burial sites in the state.  The board, which works through the State Historical Society, is the state’s only means of protecting unmarked graves, many of which are the final resting places of Native Americans who lived in the region.
