Governor makes appointment, reappointments to the
Kansas State Fair Board

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has made one appointment and two reappointments to the Kansas State Fair Board.

“The Kansas State Fair is an annual event that showcases the best of Kansas agriculture, art, commerce and industry; not to mention being a wonderful learning opportunity for Kansas children,” Sebelius said. “The board helps steer fair efforts and continue its wonderful tradition.”

Sebelius has appointed Mary Treaster, Pretty Prairie, to succeed Robba Moran and serve a three-year term. Treaster is a career educator and current superintendent of schools for USD 301 in Fairfield. She also serves on the Reno County Cultural Arts Commission.

Reappointed to the board were Mary Alice Lair of Chanute and Brad Rayl of Hutchinson.

The Kansas State Fair Board oversees the fair’s schedule, budget, advertising, and vendor contracts. The board works to ensure a comprehensive event that emphasizes the importance of youth, family and the entire population of the state. Each year the fair is host to Kansas’ Largest Classroom which is an educational field trip program.  In 2006, nearly 7,000 students from more than 350 classroom participated in this unique learning experience.
