Sebelius names Patrick Thompson 28th Judicial District Judge Governor Kathleen Sebelius has named Patrick H. Thompson judge of the 28th judicial district, encompassing Ottawa and Saline counties. “Pat’s legal experience and commitment to his community will serve the people of the 28th judicial district well,” Sebelius said. “I’m confident he will be a respected and impartial jurist.” Thompson graduated from Benedictine College in Atchison before going on to earn his juris doctorate from the University of Kansas in 1980. Thompson’s career over the past 27 years has been anchored in Salina. During that time he has practiced law with the law firms of Marietta, Kellogg & Price and Blevins & Thompson. He also served as an assistant county attorney and later had his own practice. Currently, Thompson is a partner with Thompson & Heidrick, focusing on civil and criminal law. He also serves as the hearing officer for USD 305 in Salina. Thompson has delivered lectures on professional ethics, juvenile law, and the role of a guardian ad litem at several continuing legal education seminars sponsored by the 12th Judicial District CASA program, Kansas Legal Services and the 12th Judicial District bench-bar committee. A leader in his field, Thompson serves on the Salina Regional Health Center Ethics Committee, Kansas Legal Services’ Board of Directors, as president of Legal Services of North Central Kansas Advisory Board and also as a member of the Child Abuse Prevention Services Program Review Committee. Thompson fills the position left vacant by Judge Dan Boyer who retired. Thompson and his wife, Patricia, live in Salina with their two children, Jake and Elizabeth. # # # |
