Sebelius appoints three to the Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed three to the Kansas Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board to help ensure accountability in Kansas’ expanded gaming industry. “Earlier this year, several communities cast their ballots to expand gaming opportunities in Kansas,” Sebelius said. “This board will make sure the facilities and managing companies will work to maximize revenue for these communities and spread resources throughout Kansas.” Appointed to the Kansas Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board are Matthew All, who will serve as chair, James Bergfalk and Jacqueline Vietti. All, Lawrence, is the former chief council to Governor Sebelius and worked extensively on gaming issues while in this position. Prior to his service in the Governor’s office, All served as assistant insurance commissioner of the State of Kansas. A graduate of the University of Kansas and Yale Law School, All is a member of the Kansas Bar Association. Bergfalk, Mission, is president of SGB Communications and is the former executive vice-president for American City Business Journals. A graduate of Rockhurst University with a master’s degree from UMKC, Bergfalk brings more than 35 years of experience in managing start-up companies and mergers to this board. Vietti, El Dorado, has been affiliated with higher education for nearly three decades. Currently the president of Butler Community College, Vietti has served in administrative posts at Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri and Labette Community College in Parsons. A graduate of Kansas State University, Vietti holds a master’s degree from Pittsburg State University and a doctorate degree from Kansas State University. The Kansas Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board was created through SB 66, passed by the legislature and signed by the governor during the 2007 legislative session. Members are to have significant business knowledge, particularly business development and experience in locating new businesses to maximize revenue. This board is attached to the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission and is involved in reviewing applications for new casinos. # # # |
