Governor’s Task Force on Racial Profiling to host Members of the Governor’s Task Force on Racial Profiling, a 15-member group appointed by Governor Kathleen Sebelius, will travel to Kansas City, Kansas for their regular monthly meeting on Friday, November 2, 2007. “An open dialogue between members of the community and law enforcement is a critical component to keeping our streets safe,” said Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius. “This task force helps to keep those lines of communication open.” The business meeting at 2:00 PM will be followed at 5:00 PM by a town hall meeting, a ‘Community Conversation on Racial Profiling.’ Both events will take place at the City Hall, 701 N. 7th Street, Kansas City, Kansas and are open to the public. This Town Hall Meeting is the fifth in a series of meetings that will be conducted across the state of Kansas. Task Force members will present information about the founding and function of the task force as well as the responsibilities assigned to it through Kansas legislative action in 2005 and 2006. They will be available to answer questions and listen to the comments of the public. Public participation is encouraged. For further information, please contact Danielle Dempsey-Swopes, or Steve Cisneros, Task Force Administrators at the Kansas African American Affairs Commission, 785-296-4874. # # # |
