Sebelius appoints David Corliss to the Kansas Water Authority

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed David Corliss to the Kansas Water Authority to help protect and manage one of Kansas’ most important natural resources.

“We cannot afford to take water for granted,” Sebelius said. “By carefully managing its allocation and maximizing its use we can ensure its availability for future generations of Kansans.”

Corliss, Lawrence, earned his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and juris doctor from the University of Kansas and worked as an attorney with the League of Municipalities from 1987 through 1990. Corliss has been employed by the City of Lawrence since 1990 and is currently the Lawrence City Manager where he oversees a water and wastewater system serving a community of 90,000.

The Kansas Water Authority reviews plans for the development, management and use of Kansas’ water resources by any state or local agency. It is also responsible for advising the governor, the legislature, and the director of the Kansas Water Office on water policy issues.
