Sebelius names Linda Goodwin to the
Kansas State Board of Nursing

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Linda Goodwin to the Kansas State Board of Nursing to ensure that the state is attracting, training, and retaining qualified nurses.

“A key component to making sure all Kansans have access to affordable and quality healthcare is having trained medial personnel in every community,” Sebelius said. “Too many of our communities don’t have enough nurses, and this board plays an important part in building the partnerships and outreach needed to address this problem.”

The Kansas State Board of Nursing establishes and implements minimum standards for the practice of nursing and mental health technology through the licensure and regulation of registered nurses, practical nurses and mental health technicians. The board also approves nursing education programs within the state and considers future trends in nursing education and practice.

Goodwin, Salina, brings 25 years of experience to the state nursing board. She is currently the chief nursing officer and vice president for patient care at the Salina Regional Health Center and holds master’s degrees in both nursing and business administration.

This appointment is for a four-year term.
