Sebelius appoints Latoria Chinn as member of the Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Latoria “Torrie” Chinn to the Kansas African-American Affairs Commission (KAAAC). “It’s imperative we have strong leadership on this commission and Torrie’s experience and involvement in the community will complement the members already in place,” Sebelius said. Chinn, Kansas City, holds a bachelors degree in communication studies and a master’s degree in secondary education from Emporia State University. Certified in human resources and career planning, Chinn is currently the compliance officer of operations and employment at the Kansas Speedway. Chinn was named a 2007 Black Achiever in Business and Industry by the Kansas City Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the Black Achiever Society. The Kansas African-American Affairs Commission serves as a conduit for legislation, policy and research to address concerns of the African-American community in the State of Kansas. The commission is a seven-member body with members appointed by the Governor, the President of the Senate, the Senate Minority Leader, the Speaker of the House and the House Minority Leader. Reappointed to the commission were Curtis Whitten and Jerome Williams of Wichita. Chinn fulfills the unexpired term of Ernest Greene. # # # |
