Sebelius names Dr. M. Myron Leinwetter to the
State Board of Healing Arts

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Dr. M. Myron Leinwetter, D.O. as a member of the State Board of Healing Arts to serve a 4-year term.

“This board ensures that when a Kansan seeks medical care, their practitioner is a qualified, certified and accountable professional,” Sebelius said. “I appreciate Dr. Leinwetter’s willingness to serve.”

Dr. Leinwetter, Rossville, graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in 1978 and the College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri. Graduating as a doctor of osteopathy in 1983, Dr. Leinwetter has served as a staff physician at Dodge City’s Montezuma Clinic, the Rossville Clinic, and Topeka’s Marian Clinic. Currently, Dr. Leinwetter is the medical director at the Shawnee County Health Agency.

The State Board of Healing Arts serves to protect the public by authorizing only those persons who meet and maintain certain qualifications to engage in the health care professions. The board aims to utilize the least restrictive yet effective means to protect the public from incompetence, unprofessional conduct or other proscribed practice by persons who have been granted authority to practice in Kansas.

Also reappointed to this board were Dr. Merle Hodges of Salina and Dr. Gary Counselman of Topeka.
