Governor appoints Thomas Frederick to the
Kansas Animal Health Board

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed long time swine farmer, Thomas Frederick, for a three-year term to the Kansas Animal Health Board.

“Consumers around the world are becoming increasingly aware that the health of our livestock is an important issue,” Sebelius said. “The Kansas Animal Health Board is a vital part of the effort to ensure the safety of our food supply.”

Frederick, Hugoton, has twenty years experience in the swine industry and is the owner of Prairie View Farms.

The Kansas Animal Health Board was created to serve as an advisory and policy making board to the Kansas Livestock Commissioner. The board ensures the public health, safety and welfare of Kansas’ citizens through prevention, control and eradication of infectious and contagious disease and conditions affecting the health of livestock and domestic animals in the State of Kansas. The board also regulates facilities that produce, sell or harbor companion animals and enforce the laws governing such facilities.

Reappointed to three-year terms on this board are Opal Featherston of Whiting and James Reed of Esbon.
