Lt. Governor Parkinson promotes Kansas Book Festival Lieutenant Governor Mark Parkinson will be attending the second annual Kansas Book Festival at Wichita State University’s Koch Arena on Friday, October 5th. “Kansas authors have left their mark on the page of American literature for nearly 150 years. This festival celebrates the stories, people, and places waiting for us just beyond the cover of our favorite book,” said Parkinson. Parkinson will take part in the festival’s opening ceremony on Friday, October 5th at 9:00 a.m. The ceremony will include the Kansas Center for the Book 2007 Notable Book awards and book signings from local authors. Later that evening the lt. governor will join his wife Stacy, a member of the festival’s advisory council, for the ‘A Night of Notables Gala’. The Kansas Book Festival is a presentation of the State Library of Kansas, the Kansas Center for the Book, the Wichita Public Library, the Kansas Historical Society, the Governor’s Cultural Affairs Council, the Kansas Arts Commission, the Kansas Humanities Council and the Greater Wichita Convention and Visitors Bureau.
