Governor appoints Lawrence resident to
Fire Services Training Commission

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Mark Bradford, Lawrence, to the Fire Service Training Commission.

“Fire fighters and emergency responders put their lives on the line with each shift they serve, dedicated to protecting our people and our communities.” Sebelius said. “This commission helps to ensure we have the best fire service training possible today and into the future.”

Bradford, a paramedic, is the Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Chief and 30-year veteran of the fire services.

The Kansas Fire Service Training Commission provides oversight, guidance and funding recommendations for the state’s Fire and Rescue Training Institute at the University of Kansas. The Commission meets at least quarterly and is composed of representatives from fire and emergency response agencies and organizations. Members are appointed by the Governor to serve four-year terms.
