Sebelius appoints Caldwell to State Board of Agriculture Based on his experience and knowledge of one of Kansas’ key industries, Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Glenn Caldwell, Jr. to the State Board of Agriculture. “Kansas has a strong tradition in agriculture,” Sebelius said. “Kansas farmers and ranchers make significant contributions to the state economy and this board provides important guidance.” “Kansas farmers and ranchers not only provide us with safe food, but also opportunities in renewable energy,” Sebelius said. “Supporting agricultural communities has never been more important than it is today.” Caldwell, Garnett, holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from Kansas State University. A pilot for the United State Air Force during the Vietnam War, Caldwell was an Air Force recruiter for more than twenty years. Currently the president of Caldwell Farms and Caldwell Enterprises Inc., Caldwell is also director of East Kansas Agri Energy LLC. The State Board of Agriculture advises the Governor and Secretary of Agriculture on issues affecting farmers, ranchers and other agricultural stakeholders. It also reviews and recommends legislative initiatives for the Kansas Department of Agriculture, as well as proposing rules and regulations. # # # |
