Sebelius names William Mott 30th Judicial District Judge Governor Kathleen Sebelius has named William R. Mott District Court Judge of Kansas’ Thirtieth Judicial District. This district covers Barber, Harper, Kingman, Pratt and Sumner counties. “Bill is a successful litigator with significant experience in state and federal cases,” Sebelius said. “His legal expertise and understanding of the judicial system will serve the people of the thirtieth district well.” A graduate of Wellington High School and Friends University, Mott earned his law degree from the Washburn University School of Law in 1995. Upon graduating from Washburn, Mott was an associate at Cobean and Renn before assuming the position of Sumner County Attorney in 1997. As Sumner County Attorney, Mott prosecuted child in need of care, criminal, traffic and juvenile offender cases. Presently, Mott lives in Wellington and serves as Special Assistant United States Attorney and Special Assistant Kansas Attorney General specializing in drug trafficking. Working closely with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Mott prosecutes federal drug trafficking crimes and federal firearms violations. He and his wife Amy have a three month-old son named William. Mott will fill the seat vacated by retiring Judge Thomas H. Graber. # # # |
