Sebelius appoints Topekan to advocate for Kansans with disabilities

To advocate on behalf of Kansans with developmental disabilities, Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Stephon Stewart to the Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities.

“All Kansans should have the opportunity to overcome challenges and pursue their dreams.  That’s the mission of this council, and I’m glad Stephon will be a part of the effort to help all Kansans achieve their full potential,” said Sebelius.

The Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities is a federally-funded organization which advocates for changes to increase the productivity, independence, integration and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in Kansas communities.

Stewart, Topeka, is a baker at Price Chopper and a graduate of Seaman High School. He looks forward to working with others to advocate on behalf of Kansans with disabilities and to ensure doors to education and employment remain open to all.
