Sebelius names Chuck Droege to Johnson County District Court

A former prosecutor and current municipal court judge, James Charles “Chuck” Droege, has been named to the Johnson County District Court by Governor Kathleen Sebelius.

“Chuck Droege has a broad range of knowledge from his work as a prosecutor, an attorney in private practice and from his service as a municipal court judge.  He’ll take that experience and a dedication to justice and fairness to his new post,” said Sebelius.

An attorney in private practice, Droege is also currently a municipal court judge for the cities of De Soto and Edgerton and a part-time administrative hearing officer for the Kansas Department of Revenue.  He previously served as city prosecutor for De Soto from 1996 to 2001 and as an assistant district attorney for Shawnee County in the mid ‘80s.

Droege graduated from Wichita State University in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, later earning a master’s degree in the same field from WSU.  He graduated from Washburn University School of Law in 1983.

He lives in Overland Park with his wife, Lynn.

Droege fills the seat left by the Honorable Steve Leben, who was appointed by Sebelius to the Court of Appeals in April.
