Sebelius reappoints four to help promote Kansas agriculture

One of Kansas’ key industries will continue to benefit from the experience and expertise of those serving on the State Board of Agriculture, as Governor Kathleen Sebelius has reappointed four of its members.

“Kansas has a long, proud agricultural tradition.  Our farmers and ranchers produce the food that feeds the world and we want to make sure that continues.  These individuals have been important voices for agriculture in our state, and I’m glad they’ve agreed to continue their service,” Sebelius said.

The State Board of Agriculture advises the Governor and Secretary of Agriculture on issues affecting farmers, ranchers and other agricultural stakeholders.  It also reviews and recommends legislative initiatives for the Kansas Department of Agriculture, as well as proposing rules and regulations.

Reappointed to the State Board of Agriculture are:

Patrick Maloney, Kingman
Gary Beachner, Parsons
Louise Ehmke, Healy
Daniel Gutterman, Bucyrus

These four board members were reappointed to a four-year term ending in 2011.
