Governor waives requirements for vehicles helping in recovery efforts Governor Kathleen Sebelius has signed the fourth executive order expediting relief efforts for communities devastated by recent storms. “The response of the public and private sector to help the people of Greensburg and surrounding counties has been incredible and we want to make sure there aren’t any barriers to the swift delivery of aid and rebuilding supplies,” Sebelius said. Executive Order 07-09 suspends enforcement of restrictions on overweight and oversized vehicles, as well as the limits for licensing/operating and authority/registration as required by the Kansas Corporation Commission. These suspensions apply only to vehicles assisting in the recovery efforts of counties declared to be disaster areas. A similar order was signed by the governor in September of 2005 to assist with relief efforts associated with Hurricane Katrina. On May 5th, Sebelius declared a state of emergency for Kiowa, Barton, Stafford, Pratt, Edwards and Phillips counties.
