Sebelius appoints Bolton to Wildlife and Parks Commission To help promote the conservation and enjoyment of Kansas’ open spaces, Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Debra J. Bolton to the Kansas Wildlife and Parks Commission. “Kansas’ parks are among the best in nation and provide a great opportunity for everyone to experience the beauty of nature. We want to promote the responsible use of these parks so that they can be enjoyed by future generations,” Sebelius said. Serving as a regulatory body for the Department of Wildlife and Parks, the commission advises the secretary on planning and policy issues regarding administration of the department. Regulations approved by the commission are adopted and administrated by the secretary. Bolton, Garden City, is a doctoral candidate in family studies at Kansas State University, where she is also an extension specialist in family and consumer sciences. As a former program director for High Plains Public Radio with experience in public relations, Bolton will help reach out to new populations to educate them about the importance of the responsible utilization of the state’s natural resources. Bolton will fulfill an unexpired four year term. # # # |
