Sebelius appoints children’s advocate to advisory commission
Lawrence resident named to Advisory Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Crystal D. O’Brien to the Advisory Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs.

“While we work to increase access to health care for Kansas families, this commission will work to remove any additional burdens that could prevent these children from receiving the care they deserve,” Sebelius said.

The commission advises the Secretary of Health and Environment on matters relating to children with special health care needs.

O’Brien, Lawrence, holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and special education from Emporia State University.  She’s currently a co-lead teacher at Sunshine Acres Montessori Preschool and Child Care Center in Lawrence, and previously was a manager at The Walt Disney Company’s Overland Park facility.

O’Brien will serve a four year term.
