Governor appoints Wichitan to board tasked with preventing fuel spills In order to promote clean and safe operation of fuel tanks in Kansas, Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Richard D. Dixon to the Kansas Essential Fuel Supply Trust Fund Compensation Advisory Board. “Preventing fuel spills is important to the protection of our environment and is part of our duty as stewards of this state,” Sebelius said. “We want to help operators comply with safety measures in order to prevent spills from happening.” The Kansas Essential Fuel Supply Trust Fund provides financial resources to Kansas aboveground tank owners and bulk plant owners to assist them in complying with federal spill prevention control and countermeasure regulations. The trust fund may provide reimbursements of up to 90 percent of the costs associated with compliance, up to a maximum of $25,000 per facility. The Kansas Essential Fuel Supply Trust Fund Compensation Advisory Board makes recommendations to the Secretary of Revenue regarding disputes over the disbursement of money from the trust fund. In 1972, Dixon, Wichita, began working for P.B. Hoidale Company, which sells, installs and services fuel storage and dispensing equipment. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Petroleum Equipment Institute. Dixon will serve a three-year term. # # # |
