Governor Sebelius, First Dude invite
Kansas children to Governor’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt

The lawn at Cedar Crest will soon be specked with brightly colored eggs, and Governor Kathleen Sebelius and “First Dude” Judge Gary Sebelius are inviting children ages one through nine to help find those eggs during the Governor’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday.

“Cedar Crest belongs to all the people of Kansas, including its children.  I hope to see lots of children and their families out at Cedar Crest to help find all the eggs the Easter Bunny has hidden,” said Sebelius.

Governor Bill Avery and his wife began the annual hunt in 1965.  This year’s hunt will start on Saturday, March 31 at 11:00 a.m.

A free shuttle bus will depart from the parking lot of Security Benefit, located on 6th Street between Fairlawn and Wanamaker. The shuttle will be provided between Security Benefit and Cedar Crest beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the last bus will depart at 10:40 a.m.

In the event of rain, candy will be distributed downtown in the Curtis State Office Building parking garage at 11:00 a.m.  The entrance is located on Kansas Avenue between 10th Street and 11th Street.

Kaw Valley State Bank and Trust sponsors the Easter Egg Hunt.  In addition, Hobby Lobby, Candyopolis and Durham Bus Company, among others, have assisted in making it a success over the years.  Volunteers for the event will include individuals from the Kansas National Guard, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and several sororities.
