Sebelius appoints Nancy Kirk to board overseeing pharmacists
Former legislator appointed to State Board of Pharmacy

The pharmaceutical breakthroughs of recent years have made prescription drugs an even more integral part of health care.  To help oversee pharmacists in Kansas, Governor Kathleen Sebelius has announced her appointment of Nancy Kirk to the State Board of Pharmacy.

“Kansans depend on their pharmacists and pharmacies for safe, reliable prescription medicines,” Sebelius said. “The work of this group plays an important role in protecting the public health and Nancy will be a valuable member of this board.”

The State Board of Pharmacy licenses and registers entities conducting business relating to the practice of pharmacy, and protects the public health and welfare against unprofessional, improper and unauthorized practice of pharmacy.

Kirk, Topeka, a former state representative, served on a variety of committees while in the Kansas Legislature, including Health and Human Services, Insurance, and Tax. Kirk has taught in the social work departments at both Kansas State University and Washburn University. After receiving her undergraduate degree from Illinois State University, Kirk obtained her master’s degree in social work from the University of Kansas.

Kirk will serve a three year term.
