Governor appoints Great Bend resident to
Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities

As part of the state’s commitment to helping all Kansans have opportunities to achieve their full potential, Governor Kathleen Sebelius has announced the appointment of Leon Ostrander to the Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities.

“Our goal is to help all Kansans have the tools needed to live their lives to the fullest,” said Sebelius. “Leon will bring his knowledge and an important perspective to the council.”

The Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities advocates changes to increase productivity, independence, integration, and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in Kansas communities.

Ostrander, Great Bend, graduated from Larned High School.  Since 1989, through Sunflower Diversified Services, he has worked as a recycling laborer, custodian, and clerical aide.  Ostrander is a Venture Scout, TUFF (Talk Up Fun Futures) Self Advocate and attendee of the Self Advocacy Coalition of Kansas Conference.

Ostrander will serve a three-year term.
