Governor appoints Hendricks to serve Third Judicial District
Judgeship serves Shawnee County

Citing his experience as a city attorney and as a lawyer in private practice, Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Larry Hendricks to serve Shawnee County as a district court judge in the Third Judicial District.

“Larry has a range of experience, both in private practice and in service to local communities. He’s well-versed in the court system, as an attorney and pro tem judge. His experience in the courtroom, combined with his service in the community, will serve him and the people of Shawnee County well,” said Sebelius.

Hendricks, Topeka, has 24 years of legal experience.  Currently, he is a partner at Stumbo, Hanson, & Hendricks, LLP. Since 1982, he has spent time in various communities, serving as city attorney to Alma, Auburn, Lecompton, and Perry, and as special counselor to Coffey County.

Hendricks is a member of the Kansas Bar Association, Topeka Bar Association and is a frequent lecturer at the Washburn University School of Law.  Active in his community, Hendricks has been the president and chairman of the Sunflower Soccer Association, the Briarwood Swim Club, and has coached youth soccer, basketball, baseball, and floor hockey.

Hendricks received his law degree from Washburn University School of Law in 1982, after receiving his master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1977 and his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in 1971. Hendricks also served as a Captain in the United States Air Force.

He and his wife, Beckie, have two sons. Lee practices law in Topeka, and Logan works in the film industry in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Hendricks replaces Judge Terry Bullock who is retiring from the bench.
