Kansas economic growth expected to continue
Economic experts project continued growth in jobs and income

The Kansas economy is expected to continue growing.  That’s the report from a group of non-partisan economic experts who gathered in Topeka today to issue the state’s semi-annual Consensus Revenue Estimate.

According to their forecast, Kansas businesses and families are expected to earn more as the economy continues to grow next year.

“This is more good news for our state and evidence the hard work of Kansas workers and businesses is paying off.  Our economy looks poised for continued growth and job creation, which will put more money in Kansans’ pockets,” Governor Kathleen Sebelius said.

The continued growth in the economy will also lead to additional state revenues which should ensure the commitment made to Kansas students last year is kept.

“I’ve said all along that a commitment to good schools is a commitment to a growing economy.  This growth will help us keep the commitment made to our kids these last two years which will, in turn, help attract more jobs and families to Kansas,” Sebelius said.

The projections showing a growing economy match up with other economic indicators, including a Gross State Product that federal reports show was above the national average in 2005 and employment figures showing job growth continuing.
