To help guide the State Library of Kansas as it supports local libraries, Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Dr. Michelle Swain to the State Library Advisory Commission. “We have an outstanding network of local libraries in Kansas, as well as a State Library that is working to promote lifelong learning and literacy throughout our state. Those efforts will pay off in a well-educated workforce and a state that values education,” said Sebelius. The State Library Advisory Commission makes policy and management recommendations designed to promote and expand use of the State Library and its extension services. Swain, Arkansas City, has worked as the director of the Arkansas City Public Library since 2002. Swain is the current president of the Kansas Library Association and is also a member of the American Library Association.
