09 January 2006 Governor to review study; pledges to work with Legislators Governor Kathleen Sebelius released the following statement today in response to the release of the Legislature’s Post Audit study on education: “Over and over I have heard from CEO’s of Kansas companies that the most important role for the state in keeping good jobs in Kansas is to have great schools and a well-educated workforce. Kansas parents know that investing in our schools now, means better opportunities for jobs well into the future. We saw this support last year, when the Legislature was convinced to make an historic investment in education. “Now that the Legislature has received its cost study, we have a better idea of the investment needed to educate our children. I intend to carefully review the study, and I stand ready to work with legislators on a long-term vision for our schools that will make sure our children receive the first-class education they deserve.” |
