30 September 2005 Governor: Board of Healing Arts helps protect Kansas families Governor Kathleen Sebelius announced the appointment of Dr. Michael Beezley to the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts. He will serve a four-year term. “Protecting the health of Kansas families is something I take very seriously,” Governor Sebelius said. “We rely on doctors and other medical professionals to care for us and our loved ones, and we must ensure high standards,” Governor Sebelius said. The State Board of Healing Arts protects the public by regulating 11 health care professions and ensuring medical professionals meet and maintain certain qualifications. The board protects Kansans from incompetent practice, unprofessional conduct and other proscribed behavior by individuals who have been credentialed to practice in Kansas. Dr. Beezley, Lenexa, currently practices at Vascular Surgery Associates, P.A. in Shawnee Mission, where he started in 1984. He has been a fellow with the American College of Surgeons, and currently he is a clinical assistant professor of surgery in the section of vascular surgery at the University of Kansas College of Health Services and Hospital. Graduating from the United States Air Force Academy with an undergraduate degree in chemistry, Dr. Beezley attended University of Kansas Medical School and graduated in 1973. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at the David Grant United States Air Force Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in California. While there, Dr. Beezley served as chief of vascular surgery from 1980 to 1984, and chief of general surgery from 1982 to 1984. |
