Sebelius appoints three to protect Kansans in adult care homes

Governor Kathleen Sebelius announced today the appointments of Dr. Kevin Bryant and Dawn Veh to the Kansas Board of Adult Care Home Administrators. The Governor also reappointed Jinna Jeffery. Each will serve a two-year term.

“Kansas seniors deserve safe living environments with caring, qualified staff and comfortable facilities,” said Governor Sebelius. “We must ensure the individuals who administer these homes are committed to providing the best care possible.”

The Kansas Board of Adult Care Home Administrators establishes and upholds regulations for licensing adult care home administrators, including investigating complaints against administrators.

Dr. Bryant, Wichita, is a certified family practitioner at Wichita Medical Associates, P.A., and has worked for more than 20 years in the field. He serves on the State Medicaid Program Board, including serving as a consultant to the Drug Utilization Review Board.

Veh, Hutchinson, is the health services administrator for Wesley Towers Retirement Community, a 130-bed skilled facility with 30 assisted living units. She has served on the Kansas Adult Care Executives Board, as chairperson from 1998 to 2001, and as education chair from 2001 to 2004. She is also a member of the Kansas Association of Homes & Services for the Aging and American College of Health Care Administrators. Veh has also been a faculty member at Hutchinson Community College.

Jeffery, Wichita, has more than 25 years experience in elder care licensure and services. She is currently owner and director of Bridges Consulting. A registered nurse, she has served on the Kansas Home Care Association Board, Kansas Long-term Care Executives, and the Kansas Assisted Living Association.
