Governor directs flags to be lowered in honor of Justice Rehnquist
Sebelius cites respect of service in lowering flags for Chief Justice

The following is a statement by Governor Kathleen Sebelius:

“To pay respect to Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who served more than 33 years on our nation’s highest Court, I order flags to be flown at half-staff.

“Following United States of America and Kansas flag protocol, I have requested all flags to be lowered until the evening of Tuesday, September 6. I urge all Kansans to join me in honoring Justice Renquist’s service on the United States Supreme Court.

“Justice Rehnquist served our country with great dedication. His integrity and commitment, fighting for state’s rights were most admirable. He will be missed.”

The President of the United States ordered flags to be lowered until Tuesday evening for all federal buildings.
