30 August 2005 Governor appoints David W. Rogers 31st District Judge Governor Kathleen Sebelius today announced her appointment of David William Rogers as 31st Judicial District Court Judge. Rogers, Fredonia, has practiced law for more than 20 years. Governor Sebelius said, “It is essential that we have qualified, independent, fair and experienced men and women serving as judges in Kansas. David’s diverse legal experience and community service have served his clients well as an attorney, and, most recently, as a Municipal Court Judge, and I’m confident that those skills will continue in his new role as a District Court Judge.” Rogers graduated from the University of Kansas Law School with his juris doctorate in 1984. Since that time, he has been in private practice. In addition, for the past six months Rogers has served as Municipal Court Judge for the City of Fredonia. A Fredonia native, Rogers graduated from Fredonia High School and obtained his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University, Manhattan, in 1981. “David’s intellect and reputation precede him,” Governor Sebelius said. “His willingness to listen and use common sense in finding solutions are strong traits I respect and appreciate,” said Governor Sebelius. Rogers also has a history of commitment to his community. He serves on the board of directors for both Fredonia Regional Hospital and the Fredonia First Christian Church, and is currently chairman of both boards. He has also served in various capacities on the Fredonia Library Board, the Fredonia Lions Club, and the Leadership Wilson County Board of Directors. His legal affiliations include the Wilson County Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association and the Kansas Municipal Judge’s Association. Rogers replaces retiring Judge C. Fred Lorentz. |
