17 August 2005 Governor to focus on schools and health care during upcoming visits Good schools and affordable health care are important to Kansas families, and they’re also top priorities for Governor Kathleen Sebelius. She’ll visit Syracuse, Tribune and Sharon Springs next week. “When I travel the state, I hear from Kansans about the need for good schools in every community and about how hard it is to afford quality health care. We’re working everyday to invest in our schools and to lower the cost of health care. Both are critical to the quality of our lives, but they’re also critical to the growth of our economy,” Governor Sebelius said. At 10:30 a.m., the Governor will visit Hamilton County Library, 102 West Avenue C, in Syracuse, to read stories to preschoolers and visit with parents. She will also meet with community leaders. At 1 p.m., the Governor travels to Tribune to visit with residents and community leaders at the Melvin O. Kuder Senior, 410 S. Broadway. And at 2 p.m., the Governor will visit local residents at the Wallace County Senior Center, 223 N. Main, in Sharon Springs. She will also meet with Mayor Ernest Poe and other community leaders. The Governor promised to reschedule the visits initially planned for July after the Legislature’s Special Session for Kansas Schools forced the second half of her state tour to be postponed. |
