27 July 2005 Sebelius appoints physicians to protect Kansans’ health Governor Kathleen Sebelius today announced her appointment of Dr. Howard Ellis, and the reappointment of Dr. Carolina Soria and Dr. Mark McCune, to the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts. Each will serve a four-year term. “Protecting the health of Kansas families is one of my top priorities, and the Board of Healing Arts continues to work to ensure the safety of all patients,” Governor Sebelius said. “I am confident these three respected physicians will help the board maintain its high standards.” The State Board of Healing Arts works to protect the public by regulating 11 health care professions and ensuring these individuals meet and maintain certain qualifications. It protects the public from incompetent practice, unprofessional conduct and other proscribed behavior by individuals who have been credentialed to practice in Kansas. Howard Ellis, M.D., Overland Park, is the managing director of Medcosmetic, LLC and in active practice of gynecology and laser cosmetic surgery. He is a past member of the State Board of Healing Arts and served as President from 1996 to 1997. In addition, he is the president and CEO of Meddevlopment, LLC. Dr. Ellis received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Carolina Soria, D.O., Wichita, is a medical director for Via Christi Riverside Family Medical Centers. She also is a staff physician at Wesley Medical Center, Via Christi Regional Medical Center and Via Christi Riverside Medical Center. Dr. Soria serves as a Guadalupe Clinic volunteer and is a member of the Wichita Preferred Provider Association Peer Review Committee. She received her Doctor of Osteopathy from the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri. Mark McCune, M.D., Overland Park, practices dermatology and dermasurgery with Kansas City Dermatology and the Kansas City Laser and Skin Surgery Center. He is a member of the Mayo Alumni Society, a member and past president for the Kansas Dermatologic Society and a member of the Kansas Medical Society Council. Dr. McCune received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. |
