Governor Sebelius names former legislator to key position

Governor Kathleen Sebelius announced today former Douglas County Representative Troy Findley will assume the position of Chief of Staff effective July 18, 2005.

Findley has served as Legislative Liaison for the Governor since January, 2003. He served four terms in the Kansas House of Representatives from 1995 – 2003, and represented the 46th district, the east Lawrence area. While serving in the House, Findley was in a leadership position as Policy Chair for the House Democratic Caucus from 1999 – 2003. Elected for a fifth term, Findley declined to take the oath of office to instead join Governor Sebelius’ staff after she was elected to this office.

“Troy brings incredible knowledge and experience to this key leadership position,” Governor Sebelius said. “He has spent years working on behalf of constituents and forging coalitions with members of both parties to get things done.” She continued, “This helps tremendously as we move forward in continuing to look for ways to strengthen our schools, maintain our steady increase in jobs and make health care more accessible and affordable for Kansas families.”

Findley is a University of Kansas graduate with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Topeka.

Findley replaces Joyce Allegrucci, who served as chief of staff since July, 2003. Prior to this role, Allegrucci served as the appointments director in the Governor’s office.

Allegrucci is leaving the Governor’s office to take some personal time and will then pursue other challenges.
