Governor Kathleen Sebelius visits Kansas communities July 3 - 5
After 11 days of a marathon special session, Governor Kathleen Sebelius sets out Sunday morning for a three-day, 15-county tour to see some of the treasures of our state.
“I’m eagerly looking forward to visiting with Kansas neighbors, as well as celebrating the Fourth of July in towns from Beloit to Norton,” Governor
Sebelius said. “I’ll be visiting with Kansans who may sometimes see their state government as remote. The distances in miles can be substantial, but we’re one state, with common
aspirations for good jobs, first-rate health care, and great schools.”
The Governor had planned a weeklong tour surrounding Independence Day with Kansans in communities across the state, promoting Kansas rural development, heritage and culture. This
1,300-mile, six-day bus tour was to take the Governor to stops in 28 counties across our state.
Unfortunately, due to the Legislature’s schedule for the special session on Kansas schools, the Governor must be at the Statehouse, Wednesday, July 6, when they come back into
session. Therefore, the second stretch of the tour has been postponed at this time.
“I am disappointed that we are unable to complete the entire trip and I hope we can reschedule these visits soon,” Governor Sebelius said.
