Governor Sebelius issues statement on the passage of the increase in Kansas National Guard benefits

The following is a statement from Governor Kathleen Sebelius on the passage of the increase in Kansas National Guard benefits:

“Every Kansan should be proud today that the state will offer additional support to families of Kansas National Guard members killed in conflict.  It sends a message to those who serve our state and nation, offering their lives in defense of our freedom, that Kansas takes care of its own.  While increased financial support certainly cannot replace all that is lost when a member of the Kansas National Guard makes the ultimate sacrifice, we have an obligation to serve these families as faithfully as their loved ones served us.”
