13 May 2005 Governor Sebelius re-appoints Mary Turkington to the Kansas Turnpike Authority Governor Kathleen Sebelius today announced her reappointment of Mary Turkington to the Kansas Turnpike Authority. She will serve a four-year term. The Kansas Turnpike Authority oversees the development and maintenance of the Kansas Turnpike. “Mary’s years of service and commitment to a vital transportation network give her invaluable knowledge and experience,” said Governor Sebelius. “I am pleased she is willing to share her time and expertise to benefit our state once again.” Turkington, Topeka, was the executive director of the Kansas Motor Carriers Association until her retirement in 1997. She held that position since 1968 and had worked for the association since 1946. During her tenure, Turkington worked to represent the highway transportation industry to various state and federal agencies. Turkington is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, the Public Relations Society of America and the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She graduated from the University of Kansas, and she is a trustee of the William Allen White Foundation. |
