2 May 2005 Governor Sebelius appoints Topekan to State Civil Service Board Governor Kathleen Sebelius has announced her appointment of Patricia A. Pressman to the State Civil Service Board. Pressman will serve a four-year term. “Every state employee deserves to be treated with respect and to have any disputes resolved in a fair manner. Dr. Pressman is fair and objective and these attributes make her well-suited to serve on the board,” Governor Sebelius said. The State Civil Service Board hears appeals from classified state employees with permanent status under the Kansas civil service act, as well as applicants for classified positions who are entitled by law and regulation to appeal to the Board. Pressman worked for almost 40 years in Topeka Public Schools, most recently as principal of Topeka High School, from 1995 to 2002. Pressman serves as vice-president of the Shawnee County League of Women Voters, and on various boards: Stormont-Vail Health Care, Topeka Parks and Recreation Foundation, Doorstep, Inc., Chapter H.C. of P.E.O. and Temple Beth Sholom. Pressman received her doctorate in education administration and foundations from Kansas State University. |
